The E-Commerce VAT Package will have an impact on a wide variety of stakeholders (online marketplaces, e-retailers, customs agents, postal operators, courier companies, and payment service providers) involved in remote sales of goods to EU private individuals. Some of the key changes include:

  • Elimination of the exemption for the importation of low-value goods
  • New regime for VAT remittance for goods below EUR 150
  • VAT liability for online platforms
  • Removal of the current distance selling regime and thresholds
